Empower Young people with disabilities to achieve their career goals

The Youth Transition services team provides career workshops for over 200 young people with disabilities. These workshops address a critical need as more than half of people with disabilities in Michigan are not employed. Those individuals who find employment often encounter barriers like inaccessible office spaces, a lack of adaptive technology, and employers who lack knowledge about reasonable accommodation practices.

Our career workshops equip young people with the skills they need to enter the workforce with confidence. Each workshop provides mock interview sessions, resume and cover letter reviews, and individualized career counseling.

This year, Disability Advocates seeks to raise $50,000 by October 1, 2023 to offer services to fifty more young people and ensure the sustainability of these workshops. With your help, we can empower youth with the skills they need to launch their career and gain independence.
