Community Organizer III


Disability Advocates of Kent County is seeking a Community Organizer III to join our dynamic and dedicated organization!

The Community Organizer III is an integral part in the planning, development, and implementation of all aspects of the Advocacy Department of Disability Advocates of Kent County.  The primary function of the Community Organizer III is to provide community organizing and administrative support to the development of a Common Disability Agenda (CDA).  The CDA seeks to bring together the disability community, organizational representatives, and community stakeholders in Kent County to identify and then work on significant issues that impact people living with disabilities.  The Community Organizer III will assist issue teams by planning and implementing assertive public policy change efforts through organizing trainings, recording minutes, and scheduling meetings among other tasks.

We expect a bachelor’s degree (Masters preferred) in Public Administration, Community Planning, Social Work, or related field or significant experience in these areas. Previous non-profit experience is preferred, especially with the Disability community. We also prefer professional written and oral communication skills, including public speaking; ability to follow direction and take initiative with exceptional time management and organizational skills; and interpersonal skills and ability to participate in and work to build a collaborative team.

This is an hourly, 40 hours per week, non-exempt position with full time benefits including health, dental, short and long term disability, a generous paid time off plan, flexible hours and more.  Starting wage of approximately $18 per hour.
