Meet Finance & HR director Karin hopman

Karin Hopman is the Finance & HR Director at Disability Advocates of Kent County. In this position, Hopman ensures compliance and accuracy of all aspects of the organizations financial management policies and procedures and reporting. In addition, Hopman delivers reports during board meetings, and oversees the oversight of the human resources department.
Prior to joining Disability Advocates, Hopman worked as Recorder and Finance Director at the United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 951 (UFCW 951) and Treasurer of the UFCW 951 Foundation.
In 2021, Hopman was appointed by Governor Gretchen Whitmer to the Michigan Women’s Commission. The Commission is currently focusing on how it can help women who have been disproportionately affected by COVID-19 reenter the workplace. Hopman also hopes to discuss how disability intersects with the barriers faced by women.
Hopman resides in Rockford, Michigan. She enjoys spending time with her two daughters who attend Michigan State University. She graduated from Calvin College with an accounting degree and earned her MBA from Western Michigan University in 2013.
