Over the past seven years, Arlene Siegel has served at the front desk of Disability Advocates. On Wednesday mornings, she responds to phone inquiries and greets visitors with a warm smile.
Siegel has lived in Grand Rapids with her husband, Jim, for over 43 years. Jim manages the family business, Siegel Jewelers.
After connecting with Disability Advocates for resources, Siegel decided to join the team that supported her.
“The friendship from Disability Advocates’ staff is unbelievable,” Siegel says. “Whenever I have needed help with equipment, they have always been very informative.”
Volunteering with Disability Advocates has given Sigel a sense of purpose and the chance to give back to the community.
“It’s nice to know you’re needed,” Siegel says. “It feels good to have a reason to get up in the morning.”
When she’s not busy at Disability Advocates, Siegel enjoys playing Mahjong with four different groups in the afternoons.
