    Marketing Specialist

    Disability Advocates of Kent County is seeking a 20 hour per week Marketing Specialist for their creative team with a starting wage of approximately $15.00 per hour with part-time benefits.

    Position Summary

    The person in this part-time 20 hours per week position will work collaboratively within the Community Relations & Education Department and with DAKC staff, interns, and volunteers.  They will coordinate, update, and create marketing communications output, both digital and print, including but not limited to:

    • Website Updates
    • Brochures / Flyers / Postcards/ Labels
    • Event Collateral / Signage
    • Display Items for Events
    • PowerPoint Presentation Design
    • Business Card Processing
    • Forms Design
    • Photography
    • Video Production and Video Editing

    Necessary Skills/Attributes

    Attention to detail, able to manage multiple project deadlines, comfortable and experienced in social media posting, able to edit and sometime create content for various types of marketing communications.  Ability to work within Microsoft suite of products.

    Education:

    • Some college or equivalent experience
    • Skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher
    • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite and Muse a plus

    Experience:

    • Preferred: Three to five years of experience in marketing project management.
    • Optional: Experience working with persons with disabilities and volunteers and with fund development.

    Work Environment and Abilities:

    This is a standard office environment with most communication through office meetings, email and phone conversations. In addition, attendance at meetings out of the office is expected, therefore, a self-identified mode of transportation is required. Other activities include preparing materials and ensuring that the same and marketing collateral pieces are delivered for events.

    Veteran Peer Support Specialist

    Disability Advocates of Kent County is seeking a Veteran Peer Support Specialist.  This is a part time, 20 hour per week, non-exempt, position starting at a wage of approximately $15 hour with part time benefits. The Veteran Peer Support Specialist will provide career preparation and independent living services to veterans with disabilities as they work toward achieving their employment and independent living goals in coordination with the MRS and VA Counselors.

    Position Outcome

    This position is dedicated to providing resources and training to ensure the achievement of the individual plans as established with the MRS and VA staff and the employment and independent living goals of the customers.

    Education and Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in in human services field or equivalent experience.
    • Four years’ experience in providing assistance to individuals and organizations on Independent Living, transition-to-work, or employment issues.
    • Knowledge of community resources in the Kent County as well as outlying areas.
    • Because this is a peer support position the candidate must be a veteran.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook and training and/or facilitation skills.

    Work Environment and Abilities

    The person in this position is expected to communicate with MRS staff, VA staff, Disability Advocates staff, assigned interns, volunteers, community partners and other outside entities to successfully perform functions of the job.  This is a standard office environment.  Extensive keyboard activity, telephone communication and attendance at meetings, presentations, and community outreach in and out of the office are expected. Self-identified mode of transportation is required.

    Volunteer Coordinator

    Disability Advocates of Kent County is seeking a 20 hour per week Volunteer Coordinator.

    Position Summary

    The Volunteer Coordinator is an essential position in the Resource Development Department.  The person in this position will be responsible for managing volunteer activities, recruiting new volunteers, conducting volunteer orientations and assisting in community outreach activities.  This position also recruits interns and works with colleges and universities for intern placement.

    Necessary Skills/Attributes

    • Commitment to and knowledge of Independent Living movement and philosophy and person-first perspective which supports Disability Advocates’ mission and core values.
    • Recognition of colleague and consumers’ strengths and facilitation of empowerment principles.
    • Interpersonal skills and ability to participate in and work to build a collaborative team.
    • Ability to follow direction and take initiative with exceptional time management and organizational skills.
    • Accountability to consumer confidentiality.
    • Maintain a positive, strong, credible, professional and interpersonal relationship with all parties relevant to Disability Advocates activities, and represent the best interests of Disability Advocates at all times.

    Education:

    Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

    Experience:

    Experience in volunteer and/or project management; experience working with persons with disabilities;
